Oman Investment and Finance Company (OIFC), a.k.a. Khedmah, announced on Sunday it has launched an international mobile recharge service in collaboration with Prepay Nation that allows mobile customers to top up their prepaid mobile accounts in 16 countries.
The top-up service – which is available through the Khedmah app – allows users to recharge mobile phone balances in Afghanistan, Australia, Benin, Botswana, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe.
The service – which is aimed at residents and expats in Oman – is available via over 43 international telecom operators linked with Prepay Nation, with whom Khedmah signed a partnership deal in April 2025.
Prepay Nation says it partners with over 500 telcos and digital brands in more than 150 countries to offer app-based prepaid transactions, including mobile top-ups, data plans, digital gift cards, and utility bill payments.
"Through this service, we aim to facilitate communication between individuals and their families around the world by offering a secure and fast digital experience,” said Zaaima Al Qasimi, senior manager of business development at Khedmah. “The launch of this service is part of our broader strategy to expand our digital offerings and meet the aspirations of customers both within and beyond the Sultanate.”
According to Prepay Nation, expats accounted for 43.25% of Oman’s population as of the end of 2024, while the international mobile top-up market in Oman was valued at US$27 million, with a serviceable addressable market of approximately US$2.7 million. According to the IMF, Oman’s annual remittance outflow was estimated at US$6.7 billion last year.
