Ericsson and Zain Jordan said on Wednesday they have started the next phase of their project to modernise Zain’s business support systems (BSS) to advance its digital transformation and prepare its IT infrastructure to support 5G services.
Under the new phase, the project will extend its scope to include Zain Jordan’s postpaid business, enabling new revenue streams across both prepaid and postpaid segments.
The overall BSS modernisation project involves a comprehensive upgrade of Zain Jordan’s BSS architecture, to include upgrading Ericsson’s billing solution on Red Hat OpenShift in Zain’s private cloud to boost speed, scalability, cost-efficiency, and support agile 5G monetization.
Zain will also deploy Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform to enable real-time streaming, proactive customer experience management, network optimization, and data-driven decisions, which it said will lay the groundwork for AI-driven autonomous networks.
Zain will also introduce catalog and order management for postpaid products to enable a catalog-driven architecture model and faster launch of new offers.
“By advancing our IT stack to a cloud-native, data-driven architecture, we are strengthening our ability to design and deliver more innovative, agile, and personalized digital services,” said Wessam Abu Hashhash, Zain Jordan’s chief technology and digital innovation officer, in a statement. “This transformation will further elevate the customer experience while reinforcing our leadership in the digital services landscape and establishing a future-ready foundation to unlock the full potential of the 5G era.”
Ahsan Quaderi, Ericsson Jordan’s country manager and sales head, added that the expansion marks a significant milestone in Zain Jordan’s cloud-native evolution across its entire IT stack.
“With these new and upgraded elements of our cloud-native BSS portfolio, we are supporting Zain Jordan's ambitions to drive outcomes-based advancements in its business through the deployment of more agile, efficient, and scalable technology,” he said.
