Indonesia's second largest telecoms operator, PT Indosat, is looking to increase growth and profitability within its fixed and international business through its upgrade through its upgrade to Intec's InterconnecT v7.

The latter is the latest generation of a system aimed at domestic, international and ITU-based billing and settlements. InterconnecT v7 is designed to meet the functionality and performance requirements of a telecommunications market by dealing with both traditional and next-generation products and services in a single system, and with the ability to handle national carrier traffic levels.

In its designer's opinion, InterconnecT v7 takes settlement to the next level by supporting inter-partner settlement for IP-based services offered over next generation networks. This includes multi-party settlement with a variety of enterprises such as content providers, for services including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), content downloads and multimedia messaging.

PT Indosat provides wireline, wireless, Internet, ISDN and leased line services for over 12 million wireless subscribers, 500,000 internet subscribers and over 30% of the market in Indonesia's international business.
