Vimpelcom has signed a multi-million dollar agreement with Intec Telecom Systems for state of the art online and offline mediation across its mobile network. Vimpelcom provides telephony and value added data services in Russia and Kazakhstan. The deployment, which will ultimately support one of the world's largest mobile subscriber bases, includes both Intec's DCP active charging solution and Inter-mediatE multi-service mediation.
Together, these solutions connect the critical data stored in back-office systems to the network in real time, enabling creative charging and billing opportunities. The capabilities that this deployment will deliver to Vimpelcom will place it in a highly competitive position.
VimpelCom operates under the Beeline brand in Russia and K-mobile and Excess brands in Kazakhstan, and is recognised for introducing two digital cellular communications standards in Russia. The VimpelCom Group's licence portfolio covers approximately 94% of Russia's population (136 million people), including the City of Moscow, the Moscow Region and the City of St Petersburg, as well as the entire territory of Kazakhstan.
As of June 2, 2005, VimpelCom's total number of subscribers was more than 33.2 million, with 8.35 million subscribers in the Moscow licence area, 23.55 million subscribers in the regions outside Moscow and 1.3 million subscribers in Kazakhstan.
