Turkish operators Avea and Turkcell have commissioned Net Mobile AG to implement direct carrier billing for the Google Play store.
This will allow customers to pay for purchases such as apps, games and eBooks in Google Play via their mobile phone bill.
Turkish internet users spend around 29 hours online per week – higher than the global average of 23 hours. Turkey also leads current usage of mobile payment with 56% amongst all mobile subscribers, which compares to the European average of 33%.
Sebastian Böhm, Senior Vice President and Executive Director responsible for Payment Solutions at net mobile AG comments: “With Turkey being one of the fastest growing mobile phone markets in the world, some think it even presents greater opportunities in Direct Carrier Billing revenues than most European markets.”
“Carrier billing with Google Play allows us to tap into our large Android user base and helps us and our partners to generate new revenue streams”, says Zeynep Bosna, Mobile Financial Services Director from Avea.
