Zain KSA expands 5G to more of Dammam

Zain KSA – the Saudi Arabian operator and part of Kuwaiti mobile telecommunications company the Zain Group – has announced the expansion of its 5G network coverage in Saudi Arabia to Dammam’s Second Industrial City.

The expansion, in collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, has, Zain KSA says, empowered more than 612 Saudi and global factories with advanced 5G capabilities and an array of technical support services.

Dammam is the capital of the Eastern Province and known for being a major administrative centre for the Saudi oil industry. It is also, through its industrial cities, a home for many non-oil industries.

Dammam’s Second Industrial City covers a total area of 48 million square metres and serves a number of industries including non-metallic minerals, chemical substances, textiles, clothing, leathers, and food and beverage products.

Zain KSA states that it plans to continue to enhance the Saudi 5G experience in two ways: horizontally, by expanding its 5G coverage geographically as much as possible, and vertically, by focusing on specific sectors in which the Kingdom has high advantages and competitive potential.

The company also references supporting a comprehensive digital transformation – part of the aims of the Saudi Vision 2030 programme – and accelerating the Kingdom’s fourth industrial revolution.

Zain KSA says it continues to offer the largest 5G network coverage in the Kingdom with a total of 50 cities enabled by more than 4,600 towers to date. The company adds that it has become the first telecommunications operator in the world to offer 5G carrier aggregation, which enables internet speeds of 2.4 Gbps.
