Orange Egypt boosting LTE network capacity with NEC

Orange Egypt has selected NEC to install additional units of its outdoor, integrated, ultra-compact E-Band microwave radio system throughout 2021.

The iPASOLINK EX Advanced supports 70-80 GHz band communications (E-Band) and was first deployed by Orange Egypt in 2016. The new units feature cross-polarisation interference cancelling technology (XPIC) and E-Band spectrum of up to 6.4Gbps throughput per link.

According to a report from Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) released on 1st October 2020, the operator maintained the country’s fastest data transmission for 14 consecutive months, with a substantial lead over its competition.

"NEC has proven its reliability in the microwave radio market and we are confident in the ability of both NEC's traditional links and its E-Band technology to support data growth and evolution and maintaining our leadership position," said Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology Officer of Orange Egypt.
