Orange Jordan has deployed additional towers and spectrum frequencies in two of the Kingdom’s governorates to boost its mobile network.
The operator has built additional tower sites in the Alioun governorate, which has reduced network congestion by 21%, according to Orange’s Chief of Information Technology and Networks and Wholesale Officer Walid Al-Doulat.
In Amman, Orange has made 900MHz spectrum available for use on its LTE-A “4G+” network in order to increase its capacity, thereby extending both network speed and coverage. Orange has spent JOD5 million (USD7.1 million) across the two regions.
Additionally, Orange noted that its 3G coverage in Jordan now reaches 98.6% of the population, with 4G coverage available to 97.4%. While the operator did not reveal the extent of its 4G+ footprint, it claimed that the service offered download speeds as high as 250Mbps.
