Suppliers announced for Orange 5G SA in Poland and Slovakia

Orange has announced suppliers for its 5G standalone (5G SA) networks in Europe, including networks in Poland and Slovakia.

The company describes the deployment of 5G SA solutions in Orange countries in Europe as a major milestone that will enable the future development of value-added, on-demand and customized services for Orange customers in all sectors of the economy.

Orange says 2022 is a year of preparation, testing and deployment to facilitate commercial launches from 2023. Orange is mobilizing its experts and setting up what it calls a Network Integration Factory to test and validate technical chains and the performance of end-to-end services, and to conduct tests with users.

Orange has chosen Ericsson’s 5G SA core network for Poland, Belgium, Spain and Luxembourg; Nokia’s 5G SA core network for Slovakia and France; and Nokia’s Subscriber Data Management for all countries. Oracle Communications has been chosen for 5G core signalling and routing in all countries.

For other network functions, in particular the radio, a software update of the existing equipment will be carried out.

The technology is already available for learning, testing and innovating with interested companies at Orange 5G Lab sites, and deployable globally on demand for B2B customers with Orange Business Services’ private network solutions.

According to TeleGeography's CommsUpdate Orange Poland has said the signing of the five-year agreement opens the path for the implementation of 5G SA cloud solutions, which will allow it to offer new services to business and individual customers in the next few years.

Orange 5G services were first launched in Poland in July 2020. By the end of 2021 5G networks covered more than six million people across the country.
