Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has announced it will collaborate with Cisco to identify areas in which Cisco networking technologies and solutions can benefit the MIC's quest to accelerate the socio-economic development of Vietnam.

Cisco will also bring in its top technical and business transformation experts to help the MIC migrate its current network to the latest platforms, paving the way for the implementation of an e-government program.

The cooperation was formalized at a meeting with Le Doan Hop, minister of information and communications, Nguyen Minh Hong, vice minister of information and communications and senior Cisco executives.

"Cisco is delighted to take our collaboration with the Vietnamese government to the next level. Cisco will work to bring not just the technologies and the solutions but also the expertise and the know-how to apply the technology in the areas that will help the ministry to achieve its goal of national transformation," said James Chia, director general for Cisco Vietnam.

Cisco will be able to tap a global resource of best practices from countries such as Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
