Eurotel Praha has selected UK-based wireless network optimisation specialists Arieso to maximise performance of its new 3G network, which went live at the start of December.

Eurotel will use Arieso's algorithm-based product Altaro to optimise its 3G network. The latter includes the new High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology upgrade to deliver the best possible levels of service to its subscribers. With HSDPA in particular, Eurotel will be able to provide advanced data and multimedia services, eg, video telephony, streamed broadcast content and large-scale file transfers.

In competitive trials, Arieso's Altaro outperformed its rivals, achieving a 20% improvement in such key performance indicators (KPIs) as network coverage, dropped call numbers, and data speeds. Altaro uses unique algorithm technology to process network performance data from multiple sources, including network planning tools, switch counters and drive-testing solutions. It combines this data alongside elements such as base site location, power levels, antenna type, direction and tilt, to automatically generate a network configuration whose performance best meets the parameters set by the operator. Earlier this year Arieso announced a contract with UK network operator O2 to optimise its 3G network. Founded by an expert team of technologists and industry professionals, Arieso uses a unique simulator-based approach that delivers optimal radio networks for 2G, 2.5G, 3G and HSDPA technology. ** Eurotel Praha is a limited liability company owned (100%) by Eesky Telecom. It reported almost 4.5 million customers in its network at the end of September 2005.
