GlobeTel will be installing wireless networks in 30 Russian cities. The company will complete this provision of high-speed communications by the start of 2009 and will be acting on behalf of LLC Internafta in order to supply broadband, VoIP and several other services.

The project is worth US$600 million to GlobeTel and will be carried out in three equal phases of ten cities each. Once the network is completed GlobeTel Wireless will manage it and retain a 50% stake in its operations.

More specifically GlobeTel will deploy its HotZone 4010 as the project's backbone. This is a repeat of the demonstration project in the Russian Duma last year. " Russia will quickly, and at a relatively modest cost, have a wireless infrastructure that will rival any in the industrialised world," said GlobeTel CEO Tim Huff. "The Russian Internet market is severely limited by a lack of infrastructure and by the high cost to individual users of obtaining high speed internet."
