NuRAN gains Cameroon operating licence

Canadian RAN provider NuRAN Wireless secured an operating licence in Cameroon as part of wider ambitions to deploy 10,000 sites across the African continent.

Ecofin Agency reported, NuRAN gained its category 1 licence in Cameroon last week (October 17)  permitting it to build and operate shared passive infrastructure. The company also gained its licence in Madagascar from the Regulatory Authority for Technology.

NuRan currently has 4,642 telecoms sites under contract in Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Sudan, South Sudan, Namibia, the Ivory Coast, and Madagascar.

In Cameroon, the Canadian company has an ongoing network as a service agreement with Orange Cameroon earlier this year, to bolster 2G and 3G networks through the deployment of 500 sites in rural locations.
