One of the largest operators in Niger has installed a wireless ‘fronthaul’ solution, providing a connection between the base station and the network antenna through a wireless link. Orange Niger has adopted the solution from alternative base station provider EBlink.
This modular system, which helps MNOs control both operating and capital costs, can be deployed in single-sector or multi-sector configurations.
According to EBlink CEO Alain Rolland, the solution “can be designed and adapted to virtually any physical or environmental situation, cuts operator costs and reduces installation time.”
“In addition to a solution that helps get our network expansion up and running sooner than traditional coaxial cable systems, we wanted equipment that would prevent feeder loss and degradation in a hot and humid climate,” said Orange Niger’s CTIO Claude Arrigoni.
EBlink’s solution allowed Orange Niger to avoid time-consuming and costly civil works, such as digging trenches and installing cable, to connect the base station and the network antenna.
