Videocon bringing LTE to three Indian cities

Indian mobile operator Videocon Telecom is aiming to launch 4G/LTE services in three major cities before the end of the 2014-15 fiscal year.

The services, which will employ the FD-LTE strain, are planned for launch in Gujarat, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

Videocon’s CEO and director Arvind Bali said: “We are in the process of finalising our Capex plans. 4G LTE will be launched during the last quarter of the current fiscal. The main target will be key cities in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.”

The operator has over 7 million subscribers and has GSM operations in 4 of India’s 22 telecom circles.

“Since our comeback in the telecom domain early last year, we have taken a whole lot of initiatives to sustain and grow in this over competitive. The first year of our comeback has given us a good head start and we now intend to grow our top-line to Rs 2500 crore in the coming financial year,” Bali added.
