Globecomm gets $2.7million contract modification for Afghan Army

Globecomm Systems Inc, a provider of end-to-end satellite-based communications solutions, has received a contract modification worth US$2.7million.

Globecomm has been tasked with supporting a communication network for the Afghan National Army (ANA). The modification follows the US$7.4million contract awarded to Globecomm on September 12, 2005 via DasNet Corporation. This was to provide all the equipment and personnel necessary to support a communications network for the ANA allowing communications between the Afghan Ministry of Defence and the ANA. Included in turn were not only options, some of which have now been exercised, but further options yet to be exercised for three more years of follow-on-support. The contract is fully funded by the US Government.

David Hershberg, CEO and Chairman of Globecomm Systems Inc, said: "Globecomm continues to deliver high-quality communication infrastructure throughout Afghanistan . We look forward to supporting the infrastructure build-out for the ANA and believe the Company is well positioned in the region to pursue and capitalise on future opportunities."
