Digital service provider Zain has launched 5G Internet bundles for its postpaid customers. However, it is not the only operator in Kuwait bringing 5G to market.
This offer was made available only weeks after Zain announced its network’s readiness for the commercial launch of 5G, which, the company says, makes it the first operator to offer 5G technology in the GCC region with nationwide coverage. Just in case anyone was unclear about this, it even changed the name of its network to Hello 5G for 48 hours to underline the fact.
The 5G Internet bundles will be offered via a number of flexible packages. Zain is also offering a variety of additional products and services to enhance the 5G experience, including the TP-Link deco-mesh Wi-Fi zone extender, which provides customers with full coverage across their home, as well as other entertainment and gaming devices that can be added to the 5G bundle for an ultra-high-speed Internet experience.
Not to be outdone, another major player in the Kuwait market, VIVA, has announced the launch of its 5G service, with special packages on its postpaid plans. 5G-capable mobile devices will be available to pre-order soon through VIVA’s official website, says the company.
This is another first for Zain, founded in 1983 as the first mobile telecommunications company in the Middle East and Africa. That said, the modest size of the Kuwait market makes the rollout slightly less onerous than it might be elsewhere. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how other local and regional markets respond.
