Tuvalu Telecom has selected Cataleya to deliver cost-efficient, leading edge voice solutions to its widely dispersed customer base.
Smaller island operators are traditionally neglected by the big vendors, as by nature their country’s population only provides for a relatively small subscriber pool while being challenging network projects. These operators must often provide coverage across a large number of islands to reach their entire nations inhabitants, which means that upgrading their network in a financially viable manner is close to impossible.
However, Cataleya’s flexible business model enables these operators to achieve this, as it offers cost effective voice switching and analytics solutions in the cloud to operators that need to serve a subscriber base even lower than 10,000 in some cases.
‘Cataleya has been an active member of the Pacific Islands Telecommunication Association (PITA) for a few years now and we are very excited to be working on our first Pacific Island deployments. These projects are particularly rewarding for us, as we are able to make a difference to the population of these remote islands, by providing them with high quality communication solutions at an affordable price’, said Andreas Hipp, CEO Cataleya.
‘We were looking for an international gateway solution that is able to manage international carrier partner interconnects reliably and cost effectively, whilst also providing a fully-fledged routing, rating and billing solution. Orchid Cloud offers all that as a hosted service, which allows us to take care of the business, whilst Cataleya runs the infrastructure and platform as a service’, says Simeti Lopati, CEO Tuvalu Telecom.
