All telecom sites made re-operational in Afghanistan, claims ATRA

The Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA) claimed that all telecom sites have been made re-operational in 34 provinces and the service has been being provided and expanded for unserved areas.

Since the Islamic militant group Taliban conquered the country, in particular Kabul, by Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, all telecom sites have been made re-operational in 34 provinces and the service has been being provided and expanded for unserved areas.

About 1300 telecom sites forming 30 percent (30%) for telecom networks were halted under different pretexts prior to the victory of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, ATRA said.

Based on the instruction of Mualawi Najeebullah Haqani, telecom companies have been prevented from relocating telecom sites and infrastructure in some areas under insecurity pretexts.

Telecom sites that were burnt in the course of the Taliban attack have been restored in many areas of the country and also halted sites have been made on-air and re-operational and parallel telecom service process has been launched as per the public demand.

Acting Communications Minister and ATRA Chairman assured the countrymen that important programs will be implemented for expanding telecommunication across the country and as well opportunities will be provided for transparent investment in the telecom sector from any perspective.
