Altice Dominicana and Claro Dominicana have submitted technical and economic offers to The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) as the regulator prepares to auction 5G spectrum.
TeleGeography reports that Indotel verified the technical offers upon receipt, but will not review the economic offers until 22nd September, with a final decision due by 11th October. Notably, third-placed Viva Dominicana has not registered an intent to bid.
Indotel has laid out its plans for the Dominican Republic’s 5G spectrum auction, which will see spectrum in the 700MHz and 3.5GHz bands up for grabs – specifically nine 2×5MHz blocks of the former, and 16 10MHz blocks of the latter.
The spectrum licences will be valid for 20 years, and Indotel believes the auction will bring in somewhere between US$200 million and US$300 million.
