Peru’s telecoms regulator OSIPTEL reported a 3% year-on-year increase in sector revenues to SOL12.5 billion (US$3.7 billion) in the first three quarters of 2025, driven by rising demand for mobile and fixed internet services.
Mobile services accounted for most of the growth, generating SOL7.7 billion (US$2.3 billion) in revenue, while fixed internet services contributed SOL2.4 billion (US$713 million). OSIPTEL said the number of post-paid mobile lines continued to rise, increasing from 18.7 million at the end of September 2024 to 20.3 million a year later.
Fixed internet connections reached 4.3 million by the end of the third quarter, supported by the continued expansion of fibre networks. Fibre now accounts for 81% of all fixed broadband connections in the country.
Claro remained the market leader with a 34.3% share, followed by Integratel Peru with 26.8%, Entel with 19% and Viettel-owned Bitel with 10.7%. Other operators made up the remaining 9.2% of the market.
Total investment in the telecoms sector reached SOL2.2 billion in the first nine months of the year, up 26.8% year-on-year.
Claro led capital investment with a 29.6% share, despite reducing its spending by 7.4%. It was followed by Entel (19.5%), Wi-Net Telecom (19.1%), Bitel (17.8%), Integratel (10.4%) and other operators.
OSIPTEL said the investment trend points to “continued positive growth expectations” in the coming months, supported by rising demand, competition and ongoing advances in telecoms technology.
