Glo pens roaming agreement with rival AirtelTigo to boost service

Ghana-based operator Glo has entered into a nationwide roaming agreement with state-owned AirtelTigo covering voice, data and SMS, a move to enhance coverage and service performance.

In a joint statement, the operator said all Glo customers will now automatically latch onto AirtelTigo ‘s network and all other conditions of service remain unchanged. The companies explained that Glo customers can continue to top up their tariffs with Glo branded scratch cards and all existing Glo products and services.

CommsUpdate reported Glo has struggled with maintaining the quality of its service and debt since entering the Ghana market in 2012. So far, it has mounted an insignificant challenge against incumbents Vodafone Ghana and AirtelTigo, with a market share of 2.1% which equates to 847,057 connections as of the end of December.
