Dito exploring Camotes Islands deployment

Dito Telecommunity is reportedly aiming to deploy connectivity services in the Camotes Islands, according to Cebo province governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

Philippine News Agency reported Garcia revealed she met the country’s third-largest operator to discuss deploying in the underserved popular tourist destination.

Camotes is made up of four towns Poro, Tudela, San Francisco and Pilar with a population of around 100,000, according to a 2015 census.

Connectivity will also serve Cebu’s large tourist population that flock there every year. The location is known for natural wonders and white sand beaches.

Garcia pledged a statement will be made on boosting connectivity on the islands soon, as the governor looks to address the poor signal situation bemoaned by tourists.

The governor added if Dito were to roll out its coverage to the islands the connectivity challenges will be solved.
