Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has signed a two-year extension with Nokia to expand its 4G and 5G network across Indonesia.
The Finnish vendor stated that the extension of their partnership will run from 2025 to 2027, as Nokia supports IOH’s ambitions to enhance operational performance and advance Indonesia’s telecoms sector.
Under the agreement, Nokia will supply products from its AirScale equipment portfolio, including multiband radio technology and high-capacity baseband solutions. It will also utilise AI and machine learning to optimise network investments, ensuring efficient deployment in high-demand areas, Nokia said.
Nokia will additionally provide its FastMile Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions in certain regions, expanding broadband access to more homes and businesses.
Vikram Sinha (pictured, fifth), IOH President Director and CEO, said: “At Indosat, our purpose is to empower Indonesia, and this collaboration reinforces our commitment to connect more people and make digitalisation accessible to everyone. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, we aim to provide reliable connectivity. Moreover, this partnership is a pivotal step towards integrating AI into our ecosystem, paving the way for smarter, more efficient networks that will shape Indonesia’s digital future and elevate the quality of life for every Indonesian.”
Tommi Uitto, Nokia President of Mobile Networks, added: “This deal not only reinforces our leadership in the advanced mobile networks space but also deepens our commitment to supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation and growing mobile ecosystem.”
