Bharti Airtel has reached a deal to acquire 400MHz of spectrum in the 26GHz band from Adani Data Networks, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, as part of its strategy to enhance 5G services across key regions in India.
In a statement, the Indian telecom operator confirmed it had signed definitive agreements with Adani for the right to use the spectrum in multiple states.
Airtel will use the acquired spectrum in Gujarat and Mumbai (100MHz each), Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (50MHz each).
The completion of the transaction is subject to standard conditions, including those outlined in India’s spectrum trading guidelines, as well as necessary regulatory approvals.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
