True Corp will challenge a decision by the Central Administrative Court which dismissed its appeal against an arbitration order requiring the operator to pay THB4 billion ($124.3 million) plus interest to National Telecom (NT).
In a statement, the operator said it disagreed with the judgment and will “exercise its right” to appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court within 30 days. Because the case is not yet final, True is not obliged to make any payment to NT at this stage.
The court adjusted part of the arbitration award, ruling that the interest originally set was too high. It instead set the rate at 7.5 per cent from November 2012 to April 2021, and 5 per cent from then until the full amount is paid.
The dispute relates to alleged additional interconnection fees True owes CAT Telecom, which later merged into state-owned NT. CAT first brought the case to the Thailand Arbitration Centre in October 2019.
