Iliad and Digicel JV to boost coverage in French Antilles

The Iliad Group has partnered with Digicel to launch a joint venture covering the Antilles-Guyane region in the Caribbean.

The joint venture will own the active infrastructure and network equipment for Iliad and Digicel across Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy.

Core networks and spectrum licences will be retained by the network operators, ensuring continued commercial autonomy.

With investment from Digicel and Iliad, the new venture will be able to build more mobile sites to expand its footprint, thereby boosting coverage and throughput.

The groups stated that the aim of the new company is to “eventually have one of the largest telecommunications infrastructure networks in the Antilles.”
