Mobicast brings competition to Vietnam’s MVNO market

Mobicast has become Vietnam’s second active MVNO following a service launch covering Hanoi.

Branded as Reddi, the service is offered via state-owned Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT)'s network. Mobicast aims to expand coverage to industrial zones across nine cities and provinces across Vietnam.

Mobicast was granted its MVNO licence last year by the country’s Ministry of Information and Communications. It enters the market alongside Indochina Telecom, which began offering services in April after becoming receiving Vietnam’s first MVNO licence.

Indochina Telecom’s services use infrastructure operated by Vinaphone, which is a subsidiary of state-run VNPT. A further four operators are active in the Vietnamese market: Gtel, Mobifone, Vietnamobile and military-run Viettel.
