Following Monday’s news that Uruguay’s president had ordered the country’s regulator to hold a 5G spectrum auction within 30 days, URSEC has now confirmed the date as 28th April and invited bidding applications from interested parties.
URSEC (Unidad Reguladora de Servicios de Comunicaciones / Regulatory Unit of Communications Services) has made the terms and conditions for the auction available until 13th April. Potential bidders must pay US$3600 to receive them, and then follow this up with their deposit by 21st April.
The auction will see three 1x100MHz lots of 3.5GHz spectrum available for bidding, although one is reserved for state-owned Antel. The reserve price is set at US$28 million, with each permit valid for 25 years.
