Vietnam to auction off 4G, 5G spectrum

The Vietnamese communications regulator announced it will auction off 4G and 5G spectrum with companies only having two days to submit interest.

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) will auction off spectrum in the 2,300MHz - 2,400MHz band, to enable operators to develop 4G and 5G services in Vietnam.

Each winning bid will receive 30MHz of spectrum divided up as: 2300MHz-2330MHz; 2330MHz-2360MHz; and 2360MHz-2390MHz, reported CommsUpdate. The licenses will be valid for 15 years with the opening bid to begin at VND386.4 billion (US$16.5 million).

The deadline for submitting interest to the Authority of Radio Frequency Management (RFD) is April 19, with the MIC then following with the arrangement of the auction.
