Armenia denies reports of Viva stake sale

The Armenian government has dismissed media claims that it authorised the sale of its 20% stake in Viva.

According to News.am, a cabinet meeting held yesterday (August 7) approved the signing of a contract with another Viva shareholder, Fedlico Group, to preserve Fedlico’s right to request that the company purchase its shares.

Earlier reports suggested the government had agreed to sell its 20% stake to Cyprus-based Fedlico Group for US$50 million. Fedlico, which last year acquired 100% of MTS Armenia, had previously transferred its 20% holding in Viva to the Armenian government as part of that transaction, according to Radio Free Europe.
