Tadiran Telecom: Eran Sagi's 2014 Trends

2014 will be the year that a number of technologies gain traction in emerging markets.

UC vendors will start to demonstrate WebRTC compatibility within their solutions, although it will not be adopted widely until it is standardised. Expect to see proof that the market is moving towards full standardization this year as UC vendors showcase their WebRTC capabilities.

BYOD will continue to come of age – but now it’s about the policies that support it. BYOD is here to stay, and whilst enterprises will save some money by ceasing to supply mobile devices to their employees, they will instead need to invest in security tools that will enable employees’ devices to be utilised on the company network.

The cloud has dramatically changed how communication is architected, delivered and purchased and in 2014, SMB cloud share will continue to increase rapidly, whilst enterprise early adopters will take a step into the UC cloud.

The biggest change for emerging markets, especially China and Russia, is that 2014 will see a dramatic switch to IP telephony and UC solutions. In these regions, pure IP solutions have been gaining in popularity. As the technology becomes increasingly relevant, now is the time for these markets to continue investing and complete the transition.
