Technology services company NTT, one of the world’s largest data centre operators, has launched a new hyperscale data centre park NAV1 in Navi Mumbai, India, containing NAV1A, the first of up to four data centres planned for the park.
This says the company, brings NTT’s data centre footprint in the country to 12 facilities, with more than 232,258 square metres and 220 MW of facility power. This launch comes hard on the heels of a new data centre going live in NTT’s Chandivali campus – India’s first operational hyperscale data centre campus, again in Mumbai.
The NAV1A data centre is spread across 37,161 square metres and will offer the capacity to host 5,000 racks and support over 30 MW of IT load. The NAV1 campus is planned to have the capacity for up to four data centres, reaching up to 150 MW of facility load.
NAV1A is one of the first data centres in India to have deployed alternative cooling solutions including liquid immersion cooling and direct contact liquid cooling. These solutions, deployed at scale, have the potential to significantly improve a data centre’s PUE (power usage effectiveness), says NTT.
Global Data Centres and Cloud Infrastructure, the India region of NTT Global Data Centres, is putting over US$2 billion investment in the next four years into building six new data centre parks and landing stations to help it to consolidate its ICT presence and double its footprint in India.
This isn’t the only big data centre story from Mumbai this week. It follows reports yesterday that Duo, a cloud-based secure access provider that is now a part of IT, networking and cybersecurity solutions company Cisco, has launched its first data centre in Mumbai to help its customers strengthen cyber defences and meet data localisation requirements.
