Global digital infrastructure provider Edgnex Data Centres by DAMAC has announced plans to invest in its first data centre in Indonesia.
The planned 15W data centre will be built at MT Haryono in Jakarta. Edgnex said the site is 3 km from one of the most interconnected data centre clusters in Jakarta’s central data hub.
Edgnex also said first phase of the data centre is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. No financial details of the investment were disclosed.
Edgnex, which is owned by UAE-based luxury real estate developer Damac Properties, sees Indonesia as a key part of its strategy to build data centres that meet the growing demands of cloud service providers, particularly to support artificial intelligence deployments, as well as the vibrant start-up ecosystem in Southeast Asia.
Danish Nayar, SVP of investments and acquisitions at DAMAC Capital, said Jakarta is on track to boost its data centre capacity to 1GW, but that supporting that growth will require more Tier III-level colocation data centres.
“Our new facility in downtown Jakarta will address the growing demand for cloud service providers, edge nodes, and potential artificial intelligence deployments,” he said.
