Russian telecommunication holding company ER-Telecom has acquired 100% of the united group of companies Avantel for an undisclosed fee.
The transaction will allow ER Telecom to significantly strengthen its position in the Moscow, Siberian, and Far East markets, said a press release.
Further development of the combined company opens up new opportunities for improving the quality of customer service and expanding Internet access, VPN, and telephony services, it said.
Andrey Kuzyaev, President of JSC ER Telecom Holding, said: “Avantel is one of the largest alternative operators in Russia with strong market positions in Moscow and Siberia. The deal is of strategic importance to us. It contributes to the consolidation of the market, allows us to strengthen our positions in the capital, the Volga region, Siberia, and the Far East, as well as expand into new regions, including the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug."
Andrey added: "We intend to preserve the best practices and experience accumulated by both companies, offering our existing and potential customers a qualitatively new level of service and innovative services. The Avantel integration process will be gradual and seamless. No inconveniences and restrictions for current and future subscribers are expected”.
ER-Telecom has also recently closed a deal announced in February to acquire 100% of Lipetsk-based regional operator Telemir, which reportedly serves a subscriber base of over 50,000.
