Chilean mobile users are now able to top up their phones electronically with the launch of a new mobile wallet service. The mobile finance specialist Movilway, which has deployed e-top up services across Latin America, has launched its e-Wallet service in Chile.

The service allows users to top up their phones easily and securely at any time, as often as they wish. There are no additional maintenance costs involved, and users have the option of topping up through the mobile phone at the point of sale (POS) device, or directly through an online interface.

Movilway has experienced constant growth since it began operations in Latin America, and has invested US$6 million in Chile, which has one of the highest potentials for growth in the region. The firm has already deployed its e-top up solutions in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Ecuador and Mexico, and has around 150,000 points of sale.

CEO Dan Cohen said: “The launch is just the beginning – the new service will change the payment system and the function of mobile phones in Chile by allowing users to make payments and other commercial transactions.”
