Telemor, the Timor-Leste subsidiary of Viettel, has renewed its eight-year agreement with SES to provide enhanced mobile connectivity for consumers and enterprises in the market.
TeleGeography reports that the agreement will see Telemor boost its service uptake on SES’s medium earth orbit (MEO) O3b constellation. The satellite’s high throughput and low latency allow Telemor to boost the quality of the mobile data services it provides to its 1.4 million consumer and enterprise customers in Timor-Leste, enabling smooth video and voice applications in both urban and rural areas.
Harsh Verma, Vice President, Enterprise & Cloud in Asia at SES, said: “As Timor-Leste looks to accelerate digital inclusion and offer adequate speed and qualitative connectivity, we at SES are thrilled to see how much high-performance, low-latency, satellite-enabled connectivity will bring online services closer to the East Timorese population.”
Brian Tran Van Bang, CEO at Viettel Timor-Leste, added: “We are glad to continue partnering with SES to make reliable, high speed connectivity a reality, especially for remote locations where connectivity opens up new digitally-enabled economic opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible.”
