PLDT Enterprise, the business arm of PLDT, announced on Tuesday it has partnered with the provincial government of Camarines Sur in the Bicol region on Luzon to integrate Starlink’s LEO satellite technology into its operations.
The Camarines Sur Local Government Unit (LGU) first used Starlink during the May 2025 national elections to provide uninterrupted communications in far-flung voting precincts with limited traditional network access. Since then, the LGU has expanded its use of Starlink to support mission-critical services such as online learning for students in rural schools.
The partnership with PLDT Enterprise – which officially began reselling Starlink services earlier this month – enables the Camarines Sur LGU to bundle the service with other PLDT services it already uses, including Smart Communications’ postpaid 5G and cloud services from ePLDT (the telco’s ICT arm) such as access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Workspace.
“Connectivity is essential for us,” said Camarines Sur governor Luis Raymund “L-Ray” Villafuerte in a statement. “With the support of PLDT Enterprise, we’ve enabled even our most remote communities to access high-speed internet, critical for sustaining our services in education and local governance.”
Ruby Montoya, VP and head of enterprise revenue at PLDT Enterprise, said the initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to equip LGUs with flexible, end-to-end digital solutions that enable better governance and inclusive growth.
“We are proud to help empower remote communities through resilient connectivity solutions like Starlink’s technology, as we work together to build a digitally inclusive and future-ready Philippines,” she said.
