Telkomsat and Myriota announce satellite IoT deal for Indonesia

Telkomsat, Indonesia’s leading satellite service provider, has formally signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Australia-headquartered satellite IoT company Myriota, to bring its connectivity and solutions platform to the country.

This strategic partnership, signed late last week, paves the way for Myriota to offer its multi-band connectivity services and range of IoT enablement solutions in Indonesia, including the new HyperPulse 5G NTN service.

Developed with satcoms giant Viasat, HyperPulse is described as the first IoT service to utilise Viasat’s dynamic leasing capability across its L-band network. This approach, says Myriota, allows connectivity performance – such as latency and data availability – to be adjusted geographically in response to customer demand or environmental conditions.

The HyperPulse service complements Myriota’s low Earth orbit (LEO)-based UltraLite service, which, says the company, delivers energy efficiency, security and spectrum efficiency to enable even the most challenging IoT use cases.

Myriota says its services will further broaden Telkomsat’s extensive portfolio of satellite solutions, expanding its already critical role in the development and provision of connectivity services, accelerating digital transformation and driving IoT adoption throughout Indonesia and the Southeast Asia region.

The partnership will target several major growth sectors in the ASEAN region, including maritime, oil and gas, agriculture, and environmental and disaster monitoring, each expected to reach multi-billion-dollar market value within the next five years.
