Sequans and Pinyon launch LTE dongle for India

Sequans Communications and Pinyon Technologies have collaborated to build a new LTE consumer device for the Indian market.

The AirWire LTE Wi-Fi dongle is based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE Platform and is the first of several LTE devices Pinyon is planning to design and build based on Sequans’ technology. It is expected to deploy in India in late 2014.

The dongle (which resembles a flip style mobile phone) provides Internet connectivity via its built-in Wi-Fi hotspot or USB connection. The dongle operates standalone, enabling multiple devices to connect simultaneously. Laptops, gaming consoles, tablets and all other Wi-Fi devices can now access the Internet anywhere through AirWire’s integrated LTE network connectivity.

The device can be connected directly to a computer through the USB port, enabling LTE data speeds of 100 Mbps into a connected device. It supports LTE-TDD, with future versions supporting LTE-FDD. Wi-Fi support covers 802.11 b/g/n, covering all Wi-Fi devices.
