Telenor Pakistan migrates subs to cloud charging and billing system

Telenor Pakistan announced on Thursday it has migrated its entire prepaid and postpaid customer base to a next-gen cloud-native charging and billing system (CBS) in one go.

The CBS – provided by Huawei Pakistan – is hosted on a private cloud and provides Telenor Pakistan with enhanced service resilience, geo-redundancy, and high scalability. Telenor Pakistan said the migration was accomplished with no service interruption to customers.

The new platform’s 100+ APIs also enable development of next-generation digital services, faster time-to-market and seamless digital integration.

Telenor Pakistan CEO Awais Vohra said the migration of its 90 million prepaid and postpaid customers to the new CBS is a pivotal step in the telco’s digital transformation.

“By strengthening our core systems, we are building a scalable and resilient foundation which enables host of new digital services, faster response to customer needs and paves the way for 5G readiness,” he said in a statement.

“Huawei is proud to support Telenor Pakistan with a future-ready CBS platform that enhances operational efficiency today while laying the groundwork for 5G and beyond,” added Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun.
