e& UAE launches 5G network slicing service for enterprises

e& UAE announced on Tuesday it has launched what it claims is the first commercial 5G network slicing product in the MENA region for business customers on its standalone 5G network.

Network slicing enables e& to partition its 5G bandwidth into multiple virtual networks (slices), with each powered by dedicated network resources. E& said this enables it to offer 5G connectivity solutions for customers in industries such as manufacturing, public safety and port facilities tailored to support industry-specific business critical applications such as low latency or robust IoT solutions.

Oscar Garcia, senior VP of business marketing and product innovation at e& UAE, said the introduction of 5G slicing bandwidth-based packages will meet specific industry demands and guarantee peak performance for critical operations.

“With 5G network slicing, organisations can leverage on end-to-end reserved capacity to achieve guaranteed performance for critical operations,” Garcia said in a statement. “The solution is set to enable industry-specific use cases with the reliability and flexibility required for essential applications.”

Outside of the enterprise vertical space, e& also has its eyes on the gaming sector as a potential use case for 5G network slicing. In December 2024, Nokia announced that e& UAE was using its slicing solution to create a dedicated network slice for gaming applications as part of a trial in e& UAE’s Abu Dhabi labs.
