Under a multimillion-dollar agreement, Lucent will partner with Winncom Technologies to build a multi-service broadband network featuring an IP/multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) core, broadband access solutions and multimedia application platforms, fully integrated with KazakhTelecom's existing public switched telephony network (PSTN). The new network will be managed from a Network Operations Centre (NOC), supplied by Lucent and operated by KazakhTelecom. Lucent Worldwide Services and Winncom Technologies are also providing multi-vendor technical support, maintenance services and network integration of the NGN into the existing KazakhTelecom network.
The latter will incorporate key network elements from across Lucent's Broadband Solutions, Applications Solutions and Converged Core portfolios, and also will incorporate network infrastructure from Lucent's global partner Juniper Networks, including a full portfolio of routing platforms.
ucent is delivering a broad set of solutions and services from its Accelerate Next Generation Communications Solutions portfolio, including elements of its Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution . As a result, this advanced new network will be IMS-ready, capable of meeting both current subscriber needs as well as future requirements.
To deploy the powerful IP/MPLS core, Lucent is delivering its own Network Controllers (NC), Lucent APX Universal Gateways and Juniper Networks E-, M-, and T-series routing platforms, as well as Juniper's SDX Service Deployment System. The access network will be based on Lucent's AnyMedia Access System and the Stinger DSL Access Concentrator product families.
Lucent will also provide a suite of platform and middleware components based on the Lucent MiLife Application Server (Lucent's service delivery platform) including the MiLife Universal Subscriber Data Server solution. The overall next-generation solution also includes functionality for prepaid calling cards based on the MiLife SurePay solutions suite, Lucent Feature Server 3000, Lucent Communication Manager (a web-portal solution), and a number of Advanced Routing Services (ARS) from Covansys, one of Lucent's partners in the Market Advantage Program (MAP) for Application Partners. The MAP for Applications Partners offers a unique ecosystem for application developers and content providers to foster the creation of a vast array of applications that service providers can access to help them capture new revenue.
