Czech mobile operator Eurotel Praha has launched the country's first High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network. The solution, provided by Nokia, allows Eurotel, an affiliate of Telefónica and O2, to operate its network more cost-efficiently and offer mobile data services to its customers at download speeds twice as fast as the current fast data solution.In WCDMA 3G, Nokia has 58 so far. Nokia's HSDPA is a simple software upgrade to Nokia WCDMA networks, thus enabling cost-effective and fast rollout. In the first phase, the Nokia HSDPA offers average data speeds of 1-2 Mb/s. Nokia has won over 20 contracts globally, nine of which have been publicly announced. It has supplied the HSDPA solution to Eurotel as part of a contract announced in September 2005.
