Multi-band link for Ooredoo Algeria

 Multi-band link for Ooredoo Algeria

To meet the needs of new access technologies and growing transport requirements, as well as growing data demand in its region, Ooredoo Algeria is modernizing its infrastructure by boosting capacity throughout the network, with the help of SIAE Microelettronica.

The SIAE Microelettronica multi-band link deployed by Ooredoo Algeria achieves fibre-like multi-gigabit capacity, according to the Italian company, a leading name in wireless communication technology, offering operators advanced solutions for microwave and millimetre-wave transport, services and design. A multi-band link couples an 80GHz band with a standard frequency band, obtaining high capacity and longer reach for a given link, says the company.

SIAE Microelettronica already provides connectivity in three of the five regions of Algeria. It has put in service the first two multi-band links in Blida and Boumerdes provinces, transporting 2Gb/s capacity and upwards, over distances of five kilometres.

This multi-band link is said to be the first implementation of this technology for Ooredoo Algeria, the Algerian subsidiary of Ooredoo Telecommunications Group, which provides 3G and 4G mobile services for businesses and individuals. Ooredoo has been operational in Algeria since August 2004.
