Digicel Tonga now offering LTE across whole network

Digicel Tonga has successfully implemented a network-wide upgrade to LTE.

The Pacific operator began the initiative in late 2019 and has invested TOP1.8 million (US$770, 250) into the overhaul, reports CommsUpdate.

In a statement, the operator confirmed that the upgrade has been implemented in all cell sites across the islands of Tongatapu, Ha’apai, Vava’u and ‘Eua, and was set to boost coverage and provide improved capacity and speed.

In late 2017, Digicel Tonga began offering 4G+ services across around half of its sites. This upgrade delivered download speeds of up to 80Mbps using 700MHz and 1800MHz spectrum.
