Reliance Jio expands standalone 5G network to 236 cities

Reliance Jio expanded its standalone 5G network to 10 more cities in India taking its total base of cities to 236.

In a statement, the operator revealed the 10 cities would be Hindupur, Madanapalle, Proddatur (Andhra Pradesh), Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), Talcher (Odisha), Patiala (Punjab), Alwar (Rajasthan), Mancherial (Telangana), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Roorkee (Uttarakhand), taking the total count of cities on Jio’s 5G network to 236.

Jio added its 5G network is vital for education, tourism and commerce in those locations. The operator detailed that its standalone 5G network has zero dependence on its 4G network, and uses spectrum across the 700MHz, 3500MHz, and 26GHz bands.

The operator made a flurry of big-name vendor partnerships last year to showcase its eagerness to expand 5G across India.
