Algeria Telecom and Ooredoo Algeria signed a memorandum of understanding to exchange ideas on innovative services and share infrastructure, a move to enhance their service in the country.
Algeria Telecom outlined in a translated statement, the rivals will launch partnership programmes which entails the sharing of services and infrastructure between the two parties. Although no details were shared on what potential services the Algerian market could see from the rivals, nor was it explained they would share infrastructure.
Algerie Telecom president and director general Adel Bentoumi said the signing of this MoU yesterday (Jan 9), represented a vital step of progress for the operator to “enhance capabilities” and provide a suite of services that fit the Algerian market.
Ooredoo Algeria director general Roni Tohme added: “This step is in line with our vision to develop and modernise the constantly evolving Algerian telecommunications market. I am certain that this win-win agreement will constitute a real starting point towards a strong and fruitful cooperation with Algeria Telecom, with whom we share a common future vision, and will enhance our continued contribution to the development of the telecommunications sector in Algeria.”
This MoU follows the partnership struck between Algeria Telecom and state-owned operator Djezzy in December, a move to also enhance services.
