Cisco’s SD-WAN expertise supports operators in Qatar and Sri Lanka

Operators in Qatar and Sri Lanka have recently announced SD-WAN-related partnerships with global technology provider Cisco.

According to Gulf News, Ooredoo has signed an agreement with Cisco to further accelerate the adoption of Ooredoo Business EDGE, a value addition over the fibre broadband service.

Ooredoo says that Business EDGE meets all of an organisation’s connectivity needs with enhanced control, security and value-added services. Organisations can manage multiple devices and sites and securely scale their software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN). With Business EDGE, customers can now manage hybrid working environments, and enhance network performance at each of their business branches.

Ooredoo, which co-developed Business EDGE with IT solutions provider Cisco Meraki, says that the solution continues Ooredoo’s strong partnership with Cisco, whose expertise includes delivering a ‘cloud first’ SD-WAN solution, which provides a secure seamless user experience, while maintaining security and connecting to cloud applications.

Cisco has also been busy in Sri Lanka, where leading mobile service provider SLT-Mobitel will offer the Cisco SD-WAN's full functionality including intelligent dynamic routing, optimized cloud connectivity, and visibility into applications and performance to its enterprise customers in Sri Lanka.

This collaboration brings together Cisco's intent-based networking solutions, SLT-Mobitel's connectivity solutions, and systems integration capabilities from MillenniumIT ESP (a Sri Lankan systems integrator and information system provider) to quickly develop and deploy multiple managed services efficiently and cost-effectively across Sri Lanka.

SLT-Mobitel will handle the deployment and operation of enterprise WAN service combined with its underlay connectivity options with multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) and internet connectivity, enabling it to offer its enterprise customers a host of differentiated services in a seamless, reliable and secure manner.
