Ooredoo Qatar launches industrial IoT eSIM solution

Ooredoo Qatar has launched a new eSIM solution for IoT devices, which it says can help enterprises simplify device management, enhance security, and scale IoT operations across borders.

The eSIM solution promises a flexible alternative to traditional SIM cards with QR code-based activation and remote provisioning. This eliminates the need for physical SIM swaps, enabling faster deployment and streamlined lifecycle management of connected devices, as well as long-term cost efficiency.

Ooredoo said the solution is designed for large-scale industrial IoT apps in sectors like smart cities, transportation and logistics, healthcare, oil and gas, manufacturing, and utilities. It also promises robust security protocols aligned with GSMA standards.

The telco also said the eSIM solution can support dynamic, high-mobility environments with global scalability, with devices able to access and switch between multiple networks internationally via Ooredoo’s extensive global roaming coverage.

Ooredoo also provides a centralised platform for the service that enables businesses to monitor usage, control subscriptions, and optimise performance across their entire connectivity footprint.

Ooredoo Qatar’s chief business officer Thani Ali Al-Malki said the eSIM IoT solution will meet growing demand from industries that are increasingly adopting IoT technologies to drive efficiency and digital transformation.

“With our eSIM offering, customers can reduce complexity, improve security, and expand their IoT operations with greater control and confidence, whether they operate locally or across borders,” he said in a statement.
